Hotel Overview

“A grand ancien régime town house bought in 1930 by legendary hotelier Emile Wolf, who filled it with lovely things and a starry array of guests from Coward to Dietrich. Past owner Grace Leo Andrieu deftly brought it up to date while preserving its atmosphere of unflashy glamour; now it's the first foreign outpost of the aristocratic Spanish Hospes group who are bent on retaining its integrity, as well as its original furniture....meanwhile sip cocktails in enchanting Salon Berri; dine in Michel Troisgros' restaurant; take the original red leather lift to your lovely bedroom.”

See What They Say

“Located in the heart of Paris, just off the Champs Elysées, the Hotel Lancaster is a luxurious hideaway, constructed in a 19th-century private mansion. It is an intimate address, with the feel of an elegant private residence. The hotel offers 46 rooms and 11 suites over 8 floors, in a plush atmosphere that cultivates a certain art of living à la Française. Traditional furniture, paintings by old masters, antiques and the re-creation of historical fabrics celebrate the decorative arts in the best light. Its interior courtyard has become a Zen garden retreat. All the feel of a thoroughly charming traditional home. Built in 1889, the Lancaster was originially a private townhouse containing four apartments on four floors, in the style of those of Paris' Plaine Monceau. It illustrates the art of living à la Française, as it existed during the Second Empire. In 1925, Emile Wolf, a Swiss hotelier, purchased the building to transform it into a luxury establishment. He added four floors, the construction work ending in 1930 & the Hotel Lancaster was born. It offers rooms and lounges appointed with antiques and fine works of art, mainly 17th-century collectibles, precious items, crystal and porcelain, and traditional furniture. In 1995, a complete renovation of the hotel is undertook to restore its distinctive character and splendour, bringing back to life the “tradition”, “elegance”, and “art of living” that made its international reputation.”
