Langar Hall East Midlands

“Mildly eccentric, magical Georgian private home turned hotel in the Vale of Belvoir, run with panache, quiet, in beautiful parkland. Good food, child friendly.”

“Langar Hall is Imogen Skirving. The stuccoed, apricot-washed Georgian house reached by an avenue of limes has been in her family since 1860. Gradually, Imogen transformed her home into an instantly likeable hotel that mixes character with style (English, with a strong dash of India, with which she has close ties) to perfection. Imogen has a word for everyone and her key staff echo her warmth. Children are welcome, with a big basket of toys in one of the comfy, attractive sitting rooms and it's a great choice for lone travelers who are made to feel particularly welcome. The heart of the hotel is the restaurant with its reputation for unpretentious, good food (classic English with a twist). When Imogen took over, her aim was to allow this magical place to survive into the 21st century. In doing so, she has created something that is now almost unique. A real one-off, exactly like the owner.”

They say

“At the end of an avenue of lime trees you will find 'The other world of Langar Hall' This charming small country house hotel and restaurant in the Vale of Belvoir, just 12 miles South East of Nottingham, provides a uniquely English experience. Surrounded by gardens and parkland, this is a true original, deliciously stylish and quietly eccentric.

The present house was built in1837 on the site of the great 18th century hall, home of Admiral Lord Howe. This building was demolished by fire at the end of the 18th century.

The present smaller house enjoys the similar position of quiet seclusion close to the 12th century village church, overlooking medieval fishponds, gardens and parkland.

Langar Hall is a genuine country house which has gently evolved into a hotel and restaurant. It enjoys the reputation for exceptional hospitality, efficient service, comfortable bedrooms, good food and an interesting wine list, all sympathetically priced, providing excellent value.”
