The bar, full of pictures of the hotel's former matriarch Ione O'Brien as well as of celebrated guests and polo players, looks out over two lawn tennis courts, a professionally designed pitch and putt golf course, putting green, croquet lawn and the tree-lined ridge of the South Downs. Bedrooms have been superbly updated, with new ones added in three cottages, and there is a new spa and heated outdoor pool. A lovely place (children and dogs welcome), in the same family since 1948 and currently in its prime. ”
