The Rectory Hotel Wiltshire

“Stylish informality in a listed period house, renovated by ambitious owners into a mellow bolthole, with excellent food in a panelled dining room.”

“A wonderful addition to hotels in the area, this listed building stands beside the church on the edge of the Cotswolds. Rooms, overlooking the walled garden with its 17th-century baptism pool, are airy, fresh and elegant, and the young owners and staff are particularly welcoming. There's a funky bar, excellent food in the lovely panelled dining room, and a brand-new deli. The go-ahead owners are also renovating the pub opposite. Equally suited to merriment or mellowing out, this is a real find.”

They say

“Why do people love staying in your hotel?
I think we offer a great escape from the pressures of daily life, yet we are under 2 hours from London, I think the hotel is beautifully designed with great quirky bits and pieces around the place, the food is wonderful and yet none of it is too 'designery' or over the top. The service is warm and friendly rather than starchy and too polished. I also think the pub across the road is a great draw for people, its effectively getting 2 venues in one!

What is there to do in the area?
Its the Cotswolds so there is a weatlh of stuff to see from the lovely market towns of Tetbury, Cirencester & Malmesbury all within 10 minutes to the stunning countryside. We also have Westonbirt about 15 minutes away and are 40 minutes from both Bath and Bristol - fascinating cities to visit for the day. Yet we are also well placed to explore the classic Cotswold villages to the North of Cirencester.

What kind of breakfast do you offer?
We offer a continental breakfast buffet with cereals, homemade musili and homemade granola, along with local youghurts and a lovely fresh fruit salad, and daily poached fruits. We also have pastries and homemade banana muffins. Then we also offer a range of cooked breakfast items from a full Cotswold breakfast, with Wiltshire back bacon and old spot sausages, to kippers, salmon and eggs, local mushrooms on toast or just boiled eggs and dippers - something for everyone!

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally?
We are open for dinner every day - with a fantastic British menu or you can have lunch or dinner at our dining pub across the road - The Potting Shed - Good pub guide National Pub of the Year 2012

Which are your most popular room types, and why?
All rooms are individual so are not classified into room types but our most popular rooms tend to be Leckhampton or Cleeve - People like the more spacious 1st floor rooms with the high windows

What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers?
That we are a good value, friendly and personable small hotel, we are a great hard working team who are committed to ensuring your readers have a great break, and that they leave feeling happy and refreshed and hopefully full of good food!”
