Hotel Overview

“From the outside, the curve-fronted Rutland Hotel, located on a listed terrace at the end of Princes Street, appears as yet another conservative Edinburgh hotel. But nothing could be further from the truth. Instead, inside this boutique city hotspot, a riot of glitz and glamour presides. Baroque thrones, glossy black chandeliers, animal hides and an alluring palate of spice, scarlet and dark chocolate create a quirky, sensual feel. The sparkly bar and swanky One Below nightclub draw an urbane crowd. Beyond all the pizzazz and gimmicks the standard of service, food and comfort is pleasingly high.”

See What They Say

“Why do people love staying in your hotel? We have a boutique hotel in the heart of Edinburgh which allows access to all of the great local attractions. Our hotel is exclusively designed and our guests love the comfort and style that it offers. The Rutland Hotel is more than just a hotel, it is an experience for our guests, we have an award winning restaurant, a cool and laid back bar and a gin emporium and distillery in our basement!

What is there to do in the area? There is so much to do, and definitely something for everyone including Edinburgh Zoo, the famous castle, shopping, dining, the gardens, Dynamic Earth, the seaside, the hills, the bridges and so forth.

What kind of breakfast do you offer? We serve our breakfast a la carte style in our bar The Huxley. Our guests can choose whatever they like from the menu which includes a full scottish breakfast, granola, pastries, eggs benedict, porridge and much more! It’s also served until 11am so there is no rush to get out of bed!

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? Our award winning restaurant Kyloe is a fantastic establishment to dine at, our guests even receive a 20% discount when dining with us. There are so many different restaurants in Edinburgh with worldwide cuisines, our reception team would be happy to recommend somewhere of interest to you.

Which are your most popular room types, and why? Our new luxury apartments located a couple of doors down from the hotel are becoming increasingly popular, they ooze style and luxury. Within the hotel all of our rooms have something to offer, our personal favourite is the castle view rooms – what a view!

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ? Extra beds can be provided in upgraded bedrooms, but unfortunately not in our standard rooms.

What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? If you are visiting Edinburgh then don’t stay with any hotel that you can get anywhere in the world. Stay with us for a unique experience in an arguably unbeatable location! Read our reviews to see exactly what our guests think.”
