Hotel Review

Tudor cottage is a pretty house in the village of Frampton, just outside Dorchester. Owner Louise Clarke was once a professional cook, but has now turned her attention to running this charming bed and breakfast close to the Jurassic coast. The property oozes character and the two bedrooms have been sympathetically decorated - one features an antique four poster. Walls are adorned with plenty of art (both modern and classic) and rooms are furnished with antiques and period pieces. The sitting room is a very cosy spot for curling up with a book on a rainy day! Breakfasts are delicious and if you prebook you can enjoy one of Louise's relaxed three course dinners. Tudor cottage is an ideal base for exploring Weymouth, Dorchester and Hardy country.

Guests are warmly welcomed with a complimentary cream tea including homemade cake and freshly baked scones. Louise is a helpful but unobtrusive host with lots of friendly advice on where to eat and what to see. Once a professional cook, she offers competent delicious home cooking; evening meals can be arranged and a sample menu is available on the Tudor Cottage website. West Dorset is a food lovers' paradise and there are many superb restaurants, trendy cafes and gastro pubs nearby.

Breakfast at Tudor Cottage:

Things to do in the area:-
Frampton is wonderfully central, close to Dorchester, Sherborne, Weymouth and the breath taking Jurassic Coast; there are dramatic coastal paths and beautiful gentle country walks. You can try your hand at fossil hunting, clay pigeon shooting and llama trekking; visit the ancient swannery and the gardens at Abbotsbury, Forde Abbey, Mapperton and Mintern; go to Thomas Hardy's houses or Bovington Tank Museum; or picture the French Lieutenant's Woman on Lyme Regis's Cobb. West Dorset is full of quiet, pretty villages with thatched cottages and a gentler pace of life.
