About Lapland

Lapland is Finland’s magical north, where snowy forests, reindeer sleighs and the Northern Lights set the scene for an unforgettable stay. Hotels here suit every traveller: cosy budget cabins, stylish design hideaways, luxurious glass igloos and family-friendly lodges. Rovaniemi is perfect for families and Santa-seekers, while Levi and Ylläs are go-tos for ski lovers craving slopeside hotels. If you’re arriving on an icebreaker cruise, Kemi offers unique overnight experiences you won’t find anywhere else.

In winter, the snow transforms the landscape into a wonderland for skiing and chasing the Northern Lights, while summer brings long, golden days under the Midnight Sun, especially around Rovaniemi. Alongside the natural wonders, there are plenty of cultural gems to explore. The Siida Museum in Inari offers a fascinating look at Sámi traditions and the region’s ecology, while the Arktikum Museum in Rovaniemi dives deeper into Sámi culture and life in the Arctic. And of course, no trip to Rovaniemi is complete without stepping into the magic of Santa Claus Village, where it’s Christmas all year round. Whether you’re here for snowy adventures or summer’s endless light, Lapland has wonderful places to stay that put you right in the heart of nature.

Travel Information

  • If you're in Lapland to ski then you need to come in the winter months. Be warned, though, that the average temperature in January and February is around -10°C!  If, on the other hand, you're here to hike, then May to September is probably your best bet.
