The most gorgeous boutique hotel in Greece, Katikies is a favourite with honeymooners. All the hotels in Oia share the mind-blowing view over the ancient, flooded caldera, but Katikies, with its cascade of whitewashed terraces and balconies and the best service on the island, sets the benchmark. Rooms are luxurious, cool and tranquil, with high-vaulted ceilings, gallery bedrooms and spacious sitting-rooms. The three infinity pools are legendary, and the staff are models of friendly efficiency. The impeccable food is Greek with a twist. They even make a decent pot of tea.

'Kirini's location in Oia, Santorini's beating heart, is hard to top. A real rhapsody in blue (and white), the recently refurbished hotel's soundproofed rooms and suites sport hardwood floors, fluffy beds, and luxury bath amenities, and of course, sunsets over the famed caldera.
