Hotel Review

Chateau Rhianfa is a Grade 11 listed Victorian property which was modelled on various famous chateaux of the Loire Valley. It enjoys a spectacular location on the banks of the Menai straits and the views stretch over to Snowdonia. The property offers twenty two luxury bedrooms and suites, plus three self catering cottages which are ideal for those looking for a bit more privacy or for small groups (one sleeps up to 6). Dining is preceded by drinks and canapes in the drawing room and the emphasis is very much on locally sourced produce going to produce gourmet dishes. Chateau Rhianfa is a great destination for those looking for a spot of excitement - there is a RIB on the private beach which will whisk you off for tours of the straits, Snowdonia National Park is on the doorstep if you fancy a spot of walking or climbing and the onsite facilities are top notch (tennis court, gym, sauna and hot tub). A great spot for large groups or business events, or simply a luxury escape to North Wales.

Why do people love staying in your hotel?
The Chateau is a unique building featuring hand painted ceilings and carved wood. However it is also the superb views over the Menai Straits & the mountains of Snowdonia that make our location & guest stay so idyllic.

What is there to do in the area?
The area is rich in beauty, history and we organise a variety of exciting experiences including:
1) Rib ride along the menai straits either towards the iconic Britannnia bridge or Puffin Island
2) Falconry in our gardens
3) VIP pass to Zipworld (Europes largest & fastest zipwire)
4) Coastering/walking along the coastal walk or mountains.
& there’s plenty more!

Ten further reasons to stay on Anglesey:
1. South Stack Lighthouse / South Stack Island and it's RSPB reserve.
2. Beaumaris - for shopping, village culture, castle and to walk the pier
3. Puffin Island and Penmon Point - which on a clear day the views from Penmon Point of Puffin Island, towards Liverpool and beyond are spectacular. On those rainy and dull days enjoy the rib ride over to Puffin Island - a thrilling experience.
4. Plas Newydd National Trust property tour
5. Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens
6. St Tysilio Church - which is over a thousand years old.
7. Holyhead Maritime Museum - where they have the remains of a woolly mammoth apparently!
8. Wales Coast Path - walk around the entire coast of the Isle of Anglesey
9. Parys Mountain
10. Blue Flag & Award winning beaches of Cemaes Bay / Trearddur Bay / Rhosneigr Beach - just to name a few on the island.
The Menai Bridge is a pretty spectacular sight too! And of course the must see attraction whilst in Anglesey - Llanfairpwll…. train station!! And this is purely for Anglesey without mentioning its close proximity to Snowdonia National Park, Conwy and Llandudno.

What kind of breakfast do you offer?
All of our guests receive a complimentary continental Breakfast which is indicative of a Chateau in France. We also offer a cooked offering which features Welsh products for an additional £9 per person.

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally?
We are very different at the Chateau, and proudly do our ‘Chateau Dining Experience’ each evening. The night consists of Prosecco & Canapes at 7pm. All our dinner guests then dine together with a 5 course tasting menu. Coffee & petit fours follow in the Grand Hall. We very often also include an element of entertainment.. an example being a magician for table magic during aperitifs or pianist for coffee/later part of the evening. The Chateau has also been listed with the Michelin guide for 2014. In terms of other options, we also serve afternoon tea, Sunday lunch & offer a sandwich menu. In the summer of 2013 we sponsored the regatta and provided alfresco dining from the terrace overlooking the sea. The island also offers a variety of dining options which highlight the relaxed atmosphere of the area and of course our great seafood offering of sea bass & lobster etc!

Which are your most popular room types, and why?
All of our rooms are different, but the most popular rooms tend to be sea & mountain facing. The Duchess suite is probably the most popular room with a bath tub in the bay window overlooking the sea and leather sleigh bed. We also have utilised the turrets for bathrooms in some of the rooms, so you have a real surprise & 3 showers in a round wet room!

What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers?
The Chateau is not your average hotel that’s why it is an AmaZing venue..! It has a unique style of building, unique dining experience and is set within a stunning location. Its easy access from key cities of Manchester, Chester, Liverpool & Dublin (via the ferry) make it a boutique bolthole to either relax and be pampered.
