Hotel Savoy couldn’t be better located. Super-central this town hotel is an imposing edifice, with its two charming statues bestriding five fluttering flags, in Piazza della Repubblica. Recently comprehensively refurbished, the hotel has fabulous finishing on its white paintwork, pale marble and herringbone floors. Of the 80 bedrooms the best are on the 4th floor. Chic yet homely in tranquil colours with exquisite bedlinen, furnishings, art and the latest gadgetry. The bathrooms are lined in white or brown Carrara marble and stocked with the in-house Forte Organics toiletries. The hotel has art vernissages for local artists with some suites called the Artist Suites for major artists in residence to sell guests their art. The ground-floor Irene restaurant, furnished with green felt cushions, has a smart-casual vibe with shoppers walking past and uses local and seasonal ingredients. The spa treatment uses the chic local Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella products and is held in the hotel’s only two-floor suite. More suitable for adults, the service is exquisite and half-old half-modern the vibe is smart-casual. Impressive down to every detail.
