Hotel Review

Nestled in an olive grove in the hills above Rethymno is the gorgeous Kapsaliana Village Hotel whose ethos embraces authenticity and sustainabilitiy. It's an ancient stone village built around an olive mill which has been meticulously restored using traditional materials and now provides a contemporary retreat where modern day luxuries sit alongside orginal stone walls and many other period features. There's a range of rooms, suites and a villa, all done in the same modern/traditional style and all with outdoor seating areas (the best with sea views). The larger suites and villas are ideal for families and easily accommodate two adults and two children — the villa sleeps up to 8 and comes with its own private pool! The overall feel is of elegance and sophistication, but there's nothing stuffy, and the authenticity that the owners have strived for shines through. The food is another highlight. Again the ethos is about creating the best possible dishes from the fabulous ingredients that can be sourced locally and the award winning chef delivers delicious yet adventurous traditional cuisine. Choose between Elaia Bistronomic for fine dining, or Kapsalania Restaurant for a more casual experience. There's also a pool bar and cocktail bar for quenching your thirst! If you're looking for a charming yet luxurious family-friendly property away from the crowds on the coast, and one where the staff are helpful, knowledgeable and friendly, Kapsalania Village is a no-brainer!
