Opened in 2005, The Langham Melbourne has one of the best locations in the city - overlooking the Yarra River in Southbank with trendy restaurants, designer shopping and also short walks to major sporting venues where the Australian Open and Test Cricket are played. The property is one of the largest in the city and with 388 rooms you would expect a lot of traffic but there is very little chaos here because the main clientele are retirees. In true Langham style, the property is best described as regal although both rooms and public spaces are showing their age with very little changes in the last twenty years. The hotel does have it all and guests can easily find their own tranquility in the Chuan spa which is affixed with an indoor swimming pool, steam room and sauna. Like all Langham properties worldwide, there is a club lounge, where guests can enjoy breakfast, complimentary snacks throughout the day and canapes and bubbles at night. It is an enjoyable refuge with excellent views of the city skyline. There is only one restaurant onsite - Melba, which is a Melbourne institution with a huge selection of multi-national cuisines on offer in a buffet format. Enjoy it at least once during your stay - it’s just a lot of fun.
