Skyline and river vistas are so spectacular they'll have you glued to the window. Corner suites are the real showstoppers, with wraparound panoramas of Lower Manhattan, the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, plus Brooklyn stretching out beyond - proper postcard stuff. Suites are enormous by Manhattan standards, with super comfy beds, generous bathrooms, and plenty of USB ports. Some rooms overlook the former WTC footprint, which can be sobering. All newly renovated, clean, and practical.

Brand-new Beast & Butterflies is a pleasant surprise, tasty Spanish tapas with personable, chatty servers and a live DJ (try the jamón Ibérico and bacon-wrapped dates). The location is unbeatable for stepping out: a dozen subway lines one block away, ferry access 10 minutes, Wall Street and Brooklyn Bridge very walkable.

Worth noting: the two-lift system bottlenecks at peak times, and reception’s use of an AI bot instead of phones is a bit jarring. “Breakfast included" translates to credits for sandwiches and coffee in styrofoam. The immediate neighbourhood offers a plethora of better options (iconic Zucker’s Bagels & Smoked Fish is under five minutes’ walk!).

M Social nails the essentials as a brilliantly positioned downtown base, particularly for business travel. It’s the bridge-and-skyline views that add flourish you won't forget.
