“Clean lines and a minimalist aesthetic can be found at this newly opened design-led 5 suite boutique hotel close to Le Jardin Secret. With roof terrace, courtyard and private seating areas, the quiet location close to museums and markets, will appeal to couples, architects and culture vultures.”

Hotel review

Right around the corner from some of Marrakech’s most chichi shopping spots and culture destinations, access to this renovated riad is at the end of an alleyway through a secret arched tunnel. A peaceful Brutalist-style sanctuary awaits with poured terrazzo floors, peachy tadelakt walls and waha o gayza ceilings.

Five fuss-free suites have comfortable beds, dressing area, bathrooms with Jack & Jill sinks and generous sitting area.  Owner Austrian photographer Christian Schallert, has created a new concept of ‘casual luxury offering less shine, less bling, more soul.’ The riad has solar panels and is plastic-free with filtered water available for free. Staff are friendly and helpful and on had to help with any queries. The rooftop open plan kitchen and eating area with folding Egon Eiermann chairs overlooks the terrace.

Breakfast is notable with different offerings such as fruit and warm bread each day served on tiered plates. Eggs are cooked Berber style in terracotta tagine pots. Tasty dinners are also on offer lit by retro 1960s Pipistrello lights. There’s a communal, youthful feel creating a convivial atmosphere.
