A more luxurious address in Jaisalmer there is not. A ‘glamping’ experience in the desert, The Serai is a place to go to completely unwind (and spoil yourself). Wake up to a cacophony of birdsong, as you step out of your Raj-era style tent. Enormous bathrooms with sandstone showers and heaven-scent Karma toiletries are a welcome indulgence, though it’s the brad plated “Butler Button” that takes its levels of luxury to new heights. Service is faultless from start to finish. Dine under the stars, by the light of what feels like a thousand candles, and enjoy cocktails by the raised infinity pool during the day. As much as possible comes from Serai’s own organic vegetable garden, and every dish on its small but perfectly formed menu is utterly delicious. Everything from crunchy salads to Australian lamb, as well as a traditional Rajasthani thali. Four spa tents allow for total relaxation, and you simply must experience sunset on the dunes. A magical experience, watching the Thar Desert change from golden, to orange, to pink, atop your trusty two-humped steed. Round off the day with a champagne toast.
