Hotel review

The former Telegraph and Post Office of Copenhagen has been completely transformed into the Danish capital's coolest 5-star hotel and it’s cool. Completely new, this 20th-century building is reborn and full of contemporary art now which includes the most impressive sculpture by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa hanging seamlessly in the hotel lobby under a glass ceiling. Elsewhere around the property, Danish design rules. All the rooms are elegantly designed and contemporary with herringbone floors and large windows. One of the most stand out suites is the Earth Suite which pays homage to the property’s philosophy of bringing, “Conscious Luxury”. The suite has a wet butler, wine fridge, personal training bike, punching bag and copper bathtub.

With just under 400 rooms and suites, there is always something happening at the newly reborn Villa Copenhagen. There are multiple dining options including a thriving T37 cocktail bar, Courtyard lobby restaurant and also Rug, the hotel’s signature bakery which instagrammers love for both the vibe and decadent pastries. Service here is exceptional. There is a small 24-hour gym, sauna and rooftop pool with views of nearby Tivoli Gardens.

Villa Copenhagen Copenhagen, Denmark

Once HQ for Denmark’s Post & Telegraph office, this grand neo-Baroque building relaunched in 2020 as Villa Copenhagen, one of the city’s most high-profile openings. Following a top-to-toe renovation, it is now a handsome five-star hotel, with elegant bedrooms, swish public spaces and a photogenic rooftop pool.
