“An immaculately decorated luxury hotel set right on La Ramblas. Expect Madagascar ebony, rich colours, and minimalist undercurrents. A contradictory fusion of the Gothic and the minimal, but it definitely works. Each room displays an exclusive piece of the Masriera Art Collection. City chic.”

Hotel Review

This 31-room boutique hotel certainly is a one-off, housed in a building dating from 1850 that was once the headquarters of Barcelona jewellers Bagues-Masriera. A small museum within the hotel displays items from the collection. The interior of the hotel is strikingly dark and sedate with much use of materials such as ebony, rosewood, gold leaf and Indian slate, often echoing Art Nouveau and Modernist styles. There are numerous delightful original features to discover, such as two fabulously ornate Venetian glass lamps in the lounge, and a huge golden sculpture within the interior of the main stairs. Facilities tend to be petite: a slim rooftop plunge pool, a compact sauna and gym, and instead of a restaurant a small snack and tapas selection is available in the two little bar areas. However, you feel completely in the heart of the city here, being right on key thoroughfare La Ramblas, and just steps from the Gothic Quarter.
