Vivenda's century-old Portuguese façade welcomes guests up wide steps and into elegant reception rooms. Behind this imposing villa — which houses two of the hotel's eight rooms, as well as a large dining and sitting room — is the older Hindu part of the house. Made of rammed earthen walls, this original building offers three further bedrooms, and has a wonderfully warm feel. Dotted around the grounds, the final three bedrooms include a small cottage and an impressive tent. Quirky and individually decorated, each includes vintage furnishings, stacks of books and nods to Goa’s fascinating history.
Long, lazy breakfasts are enjoyed with fellow guests — and lovely owners Simon and Charlotte — on the shaded terrace, and days spent soaking up the sunshine poolside, cycling to the beach or touring the beautiful heritage residences and independent breweries of South Goa.
Generous gin & tonics, cold Goan beers and more are offered by the friendly team at the brightly painted bar, and flavoursome regional fare awaits in the evening. Oozing character, Vivenda will delight couples, groups of friends and families alike. This is a very special spot!

Based in and around an old Portuguese mansion, Vivenda Dos Palhacos has seven stylish bedrooms all named after places the brother-and-sister owners have 'lived in and loved', in Bengal and Tamil Nadu.

This converted Portuguese villa just 1km from Majorda beach has six guestrooms and bucketloads of personality. Sibling hosts Simon and Charlotte Hayward’s family history in India stretches back three generations, and fills the hotel’s walls and corridors.

A house that feels like someone’s rather chic home (because it is), and an authentic Goan experience that is slightly off the tourist trail.
