A hotel of real magnificence and standards of regal opulence, it is hardly surprising that the Breidenbacher is a 5-star hotel. Upon entering the lobby you first encounter the great, spiralling black-marbled stairway, overshadowed by crystalline chandeliers and you're instantly overcome with nostalgia for a time of glittering ballrooms and bountiful banquets, top hats, ballgowns and blood-red cravats. The in-house restaurant, Brasserie 1806, certainly echoes this vintage elegance and boasts gorgeous panoramic views of the Old Town of Dusseldorf. The Capella Bar, running adjacent to it, specialises in high-class cocktail-making and has a wide variety of liquors on offer, adding to that runs classes for guests on Mixology, the art of cocktail making. The rooms themselves meld old-fashioned elegance with contemporary comforts, with luxury bathroom amenities, gorgeous antique furniture and Italian marble bathrooms. The Spa has a heated indoor pool, 2 Finnish saunas, a steaming bath and a 24/7 gym. If guests want a fitness coach to help them plan a fitness regimen, they can request one for an additional cost and indeed, professional yoga instructors are on-call to run sessions with guests. All in all, this is a hotel suitably aimed at those who want their stay in the city to be cushioned with real pomp, flash and style.
