You know you’re in Pushkar when you look out of your bedroom window and there’s a herd of camels. Situated down a pot-holed backstreet, a 1km walk from the town centre, Dia is in a slightly unusual location but it’s delightfully secluded. Five years ago, owner Anoop Mahotra transformed his beautiful, whitewashed home into a BnB. He and his golden Labrador, Peepo, still live on the ground floor. The five spotless rooms are modern (marble floors, white walls, heaters and a minibar), but still typically Rajasthani (arched, latticed windows and old haveli doors with brass padlocks and ornate keys). They have different colour schemes (Surya is turquoise; Savera is pink) as well as embroidered bedspreads, vibrant rugs and stylish paper lanterns. Savera is perfect for families of three as it has a single and king-sized bed. Great touches include cosy window-seats, plenty of bookshelves, comfy floor seating and piles of books on quirky, antique furniture. Cheery staff members serve you a scrummy breakfast of granola, yoghurt and pomegranate, porridge or toasted sandwiches in the rooftop restaurant – or, even better, in bed. There’s no lunch or dinner here, but Sixth Sense, the restaurant at sister property Inn Seventh Heaven, is a short, complimentary rickshaw ride away and serves some of the best food in town.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? It's intimate, private, casual and well run. There is a great atmosphere and personal service. What is there to do in the area or on site? At our sister property Inn Seventh Heaven, we have a rooftop restaurant, The Sixth Sense, which serves very good Indian and continental options. Plus we can offer a masseur on request, arrange local sightseeing (including camel safaris) and make any travel arrangements our clients require. Generally we take care that your time here is excellent and that you spend it the way you wish What kind of breakfast do you offer? We have mainly continental breakfast (no eggs) including muesli, fresh fruit juices, homemade brown bread, eggless pancakes etc.. Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? We have a a la carte Indian and continental menu and definitely recommend ..eating at our place!! Which are your most popular room types, and why? All our rooms are popular, some for their views, some because of the room rate - each room has its own character. What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms? We have extra bed facilities and members of staff who are used to looking after the needs and requests of youngsters. We also have two little kittens - a brother and sister called mimi and coco - plus two other more cats. Any children who come to stay just seem to spend all their time with them!
