“Discreet, design-forward aparthotel in central Paris, steps from the city’s grandest sights. Think moody modern interiors with nods to 19th-century elegance. A fitness space, sun terrace, and in-room treatments add polish. Ideal for travellers who value privacy with a creative edge”

Hotel review

A centrally located apartment hotel for anyone wishing to experience a true l’exception française during their stay in the City of Lights. In the 8th arrondissement, just down the street from the Église de la Madeleine, Hôtel de Pourtalès is a Parisien dream-stay. A nondescript door gives way to a private central courtyard filled with Greco-Roman statues and shrubbery. With minimal front-of-house frills—there is no check-in counter, but a simple desk for the concierge—the experience is more like coming home. As a restored building dating from 1839 (it was originally built for Swiss banker James-Alexandre de Pourtalès), several rooms retain great wooden beams, and high ceilings. Each suite is more like an apartment, (all but two fitted with a kitchen and laundry facilities), furnished with modern and minimalistic furniture designed specifically for the hotel by architect Agathe Labaye, and bathed in light and space from the large windows that look out on the sycamore trees, zinc roofs and flowered balconies of the Rue Tronchet.

Excellent service is always on hand, and each morning, a catered breakfast is delivered to the room. While there is no onsite restaurant, the hotel will arrange everything from a private chef, personal shopper, or even someone to unpack your bag, to ensure a private, luxury stay. Fittingly, Pourtalès is a favoured accommodation for visiting celebrities, and as such may suit those interested in some low-key star gazing. For the other kind of sightseeing, the Suite Signature Sky Penthouse provides one of the city’s clearest views of the Eiffel Tower".
