“A renovated Portuguese farmhouse turned boutique hideaway just outside Evora. Spacious, light-filled suites boast private terraces & chic minimalist design. The restaurant champions local products in traditional dishes. Beautiful gardens, two swimming pools & superb service. Total rural relaxation. ”

Hotel review

Wake to sunrise from your private terrace and walk out to the Almendres Cromlech - Europe's largest megalithic monument sits right next door to this 11-hectare estate, where the old horse-riding circuit now forms one pool's spectacular circular shape. Former stables are now suites and doubles stuffed with character: rusty Singer sewing machines, whimsical neon signs, Hermès amenities, and room keys attached to cow bells that clang as you walk.

Staff are exceptionally warm, full of recommendations and serving a local breakfast until deliciously late, noon. Dinner will be regional dishes like bitoque (steak) and pancakes with guava paste from Chef Rui Rosário. There's foosball, hammocks, an honesty bar, and snooker to keep you busy, but the area is having a moment - Évora becomes European Capital of Culture in 2027, enotourism is booming, and new chef-driven spots like Forno da Talha are opening. Évora's World Heritage centre and outstanding Alentejo restaurants are easily reached by taxi. Visit in shoulder seasons for sunshine without inland heat. Quirky, soulful, perfectly timed!
