Set in the Italian alps, La Perla is full of character, history and tradition. All 48-rooms and suites are different and uniquely designed with local materials like wood, stone and fabric furnished around the distinct property reflecting the Ladin culture and traditions. Multiple dining outlets include a stuben for traditional Tyrolean dishes, as well as a bistro with a more elevated fare on offer. Private dining can also be experienced in a traditional “hut”, La Casa Vedler, located off-site where other cultural activities like sewing with a local artisan can be enjoyed. There is a wellness centre with indoor pool, multiple sauna and steamrooms, as well as a rather elaborate and well-stocked wine cellar featuring both local and international wines. Oenophiles will love discovering the owner’s collection of Sassicaia. This rustic and immersive experience comes at a price.

What is there to do in the area?
It depends on the season, and perhaps also on what kind of mountain day you are dreaming of. In winter, the Dolomiti Superski area offers one of the largest ski carousels in the world with 1200km, with direct access to extraordinary slopes and landscapes. In summer, Alta Badia becomes a paradise for hikers, with over 400 kilometres of trails through meadows, forests, mountain huts and Dolomite peaks.
And then there is the art of vivere bene: eating well, drinking well, taking time, discovering local traditions and letting the rhythm of the mountains do the rest.
What kind of breakfast do you offer? A breakfast made for slow mornings and good beginnings. Guests will find local speck and cured meats, South Tyrolean cheeses, homemade cakes, croissants, fresh juices, seasonal fruit, different kinds of bread, excellent coffee and our fresh local whipped butter. And, of course, a view so beautiful it almost feels like part of the breakfast itself.
Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? Hotel La Perla offers five restaurants in summer and four in winter, each with its own soul. There is La Stüa de Michil, our Michelin-starred restaurant; Les Stües, where Italian cuisine meets a warm Ladin atmosphere; the Bistrot Music Club, a lively place for lunch, dinner, drinks and live music in the evening; and the restaurant at Berghotel Ladinia, where guests can discover honest, traditional Alpine flavours.
For those wishing to explore the area, we are always happy to recommend our favourite local places, from mountain huts to small restaurants full of character.
Which are your most popular room types, and why? We have 48 rooms, all different in style, view and character. Many guests fall in love with one particular room and then never want to change.
Among the most special are our Suite Dolomites La Perla, set under the roof, with a panoramic living room and a bedroom made for the sweetest dreams. Another much-loved room is Suite Ernesto, overlooking the Campolongo Pass and the village church. It is dedicated to Ernesto Costa, the founder of La Perla, and carries a very special place in the history of the house.
What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms? Children are always welcome at La Perla. We can add extra beds in selected rooms and offer special menus for our younger guests. We are not a classic children’s hotel, so there is no indoor playroom. But here, the most beautiful playground is just outside: the mountains, the meadows, the fresh air and the freedom of the Dolomites.
What message would you like to give The Hotel Guru readers? Hotel La Perla is a place where hospitality goes beyond tourism. When guests choose to spend their most precious days of the year with us in Corvara, in the heart of Alta Badia, we feel a true responsibility to make that time unforgettable.
Here, the Dolomites set the scene, tradition is felt in every corner, and the warmth of a family home shapes the atmosphere. We hope every guest leaves with the feeling that they have not simply stayed in a hotel, but discovered a house, a story and a place to return to.
