Opened in 2022, MonAsty Thessaloniki, part of the Marriott Autograph Collection, occupies the site of a former Byzantine monastery, its name a nod to “Mon” (monastery) and “Asty” (city). The 100-room/suite hotel blends contemporary luxury with monastic-inspired design – domed ceilings, dark textured finishes, brushed wood, weathered leather and woven rattan create a sophisticated, atmospheric backdrop and framed Samite silk scarves – a Silk Road-inspired Byzantine detail feature throughout rooms and public areas. Its rooftop pool – rare in a city hotel – has panoramic views as far as Mount Olympus, a gym, and their Botargo Restaurant produces elevated Mediterranean cuisine such as the standout grilled sea bream with chick peas, the Samite Gastro Bar, a refuge with its quiet courtyard to relax with coffee.
