Perched on a hillside above Tsilivi and surrounded by ancient olive groves, Olea All Suite Hotel is one of Zakynthos' most distinctive luxury retreats. Part of Marriott's Design Hotels collection, this contemporary 89-suite property swaps traditional Ionian architecture for clean lines, polished concrete, local stone, oak, bamboo and rattan, creating a calming, almost zen-like atmosphere softened by Mediterranean planting and mature trees. Opened in 2018 and welcoming guests aged 12 and over, it feels secluded despite being only 15 minutes from both Zakynthos Airport and the island's historic capital.

Accommodation cascades down the hillside towards a vast lagoon-style swimming pool that forms the heart of the resort. Many suites feature private or shared swim-up pools, while the Presidential Private Pool Suite tops the collection with expansive indoor-outdoor living, a large private pool and sweeping Ionian Sea views. My Executive Sea View Private Pool Suite offered the same understated design on a smaller scale, with a generous terrace and private pool that made it difficult to leave. Throughout the hotel, contemporary sculptures and striking photographic works, introduced through Olea's annual Creative Residency, add an artistic dimension to the tranquil surroundings.

Dining is equally impressive. Bio Garden celebrates Greek and Mediterranean flavours through sharing plates served beneath the olive trees, while Flow Dine & Wine offers an elegant evening experience with refined Mediterranean cuisine paired with an extensive wine list. Cocoon Resto bar provides relaxed lunches, cocktails and light bites beside the lagoon pool throughout the day, in the evening it becomes FLAME Restaurant a vibrant Greek gastronomy tavern, serving mainly meat options.

Although the nearest beach is a five-minute drive away, the resort's exceptional pools, thoughtful landscaping and peaceful atmosphere mean you'll hardly miss having the sea on your doorstep. For travellers seeking contemporary design, space and tranquillity over a traditional beachfront resort, Olea is among Zakynthos' finest stays.

Rebecca's Hot Tip: Time dinner at Flow Dine & Wine for sunset. Its elevated position above the resort makes it one of the best spots on the property as the light fades over the Ionian Sea.

Adding to this, the Executive Private Pool Suites are ideal for guests looking for even greater privacy, offering a tranquil sanctuary surrounded by lush Mediterranean planting, where guests can enjoy complete seclusion while still benefiting from all the facilities and atmosphere of the resort.
