Staypineapple is a fun, characterful base for exploring San Francisco, with chatty, welcoming staff who enthusiastically introduce the hotel's many little extras. Playful yellow interiors, cartoon pineapples and signature plush huskies won't appeal to everyone (though the pineapple sugar cookies certainly have their appeal). No one could accuse this place of lacking personality.
The standout feature is the comfort: exceptionally cosy beds with individual duvets make for an excellent night's sleep. Complimentary bikes are another welcome perk; I easily pedalled far beyond downtown to discover San Francisco's many distinctive neighbourhoods.
The hotel sits in a convenient location for Union Square, the BART and the city's iconic cable cars, though the surrounding streets can feel a little rough around the edges. That's a reality of this part of the city rather than the hotel itself. Friendly and good value, it's an excellent base if you plan to spend your days exploring and your nights sleeping soundly.
