The Windmill in Suffolk is a striking self-catering hideaway run with great care by Natalie and Steve. Ten years after opening, it still feels immaculate, with thoughtful touches like Green & Black’s chocolate by the bed, Elemis sleep spray and wonderfully comfortable robes and slippers. Sleeping four, the windmill has a well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine, plus SKY TV and a hidden music system. The bathroom gleams with mother of pearl tiles, a free-standing bath and walk-in shower, while the glass pod at the top offers sunrise on one side and sunset on the other. Just five minutes from Lavenham and fifteen from Bury St Edmunds, it’s a unique base for exploring Suffolk – though once inside, you may not want to leave.
