Travel information

  • Aswan International Airport, also known as Daraw Airport, is located 16km southwest of Aswan in southern Egypt. Getting to Aswan's centre from the airport is fairly easy. Journey time by taxi is approximately 20 minutes and there are also regular buses which take around 30 minutes (the bus station is located near the terminal).

  • Winter (December to February) is a good time to explore Aswan. Daytime temperatures range from 22–28°C, making it perfect for visiting temples, cruising the Nile and exploring Nubian villages without dealing with extreme heat. The months of October and November offer mild weather and fewer tourists compared to peak winter months while March to May is a good bet for budget-conscious travellers but take care as the midday heat can be intense.
