Photo of Hótel Aldan

“This historic riverside hotel is split across two sites, Hotel Snæfell and Hótel Aldan. The décor of the rooms seeks to preserve a sense of the buildings' tradition, with pine floors and dark wood furniture. Groups can stay in the Old School apartments in the old town centre. A charming guesthouse. ”

A tale of ice and fire: touring East Iceland

[Seyðisfjörður] also has several beautifully restored wooden houses, some of which have been converted into the Hotel Aldan. I stay at what was the bank, and eat in a bistro, watching a strange assortment of art students, fishermen and farmers come and go.

Hotel Aldan

Hótel Aldan of Seyðisfjörður consists of three old but extensively renovated houses two of which are located by the little pond in the heart of this quaint old town in the norwegian Schweitzer-style.

The pick of the town's lodgings, though, is boutique Hótel Aldan, spread across three timber buildings. The reception shares space with the cafe-restaurant, serving coffee and homemade cakes all day, then stepping things up at night when traditional Icelandic ingredients such as lamb, langoustine, reindeer and fish come with a polished contemporary touch.
