Hotel Review

The Tschuggen Grand Hotel is a classic Swiss five-star luxury hotel. Renovated by Swiss architect, Carlo Rampazzi, the vibe is alpine contemporary with roots back to the 80s. The hotel sits at 1,800m above sea level and provides easy access via the private Tschuggen Express to beautiful green hikes during the warmer months and more than 225km of Arosa Lenzerheide pistes for skiers with a passion for downhill slopes. The jewel in the crown is the 5,000-sq ft spa with swimming pool, saunas, steam rooms, fitness centre and treatment rooms. The hotel has 5 restaurants, which are seasonal. The Grand Restaurant is traditional in service and can book out, but don’t fret, La Collina, although more casual, offers excellent food and delicious cakes for afternoon tea. Swiss hospitality at its best.

See What They Say

Why do people love staying in your hotel? Guests at Tschuggen Grand Hotel particularly enjoy privacy and the possibility to spend a quiet holiday with their beloved ones. Also, sports enthusiasts love our private mountain railway (Tschuggen Express) which transports them from the hotel directly into the snowsports and hiking area of Arosa-Lenzerheide. After spending an active day outdoors, our 5000 sqm spa – the Tschuggen Bergoase, designed by Mario Botta – is the place to be. Thanks to our dine around option, guests can chose between six different restaurants for dinner, which brings a lot of diversity into a week of holidays.

What is there to do in the area? Arosa is very famous for skiing, hiking and biking (for the less active people, most of the routes have cable cars or lifts going up there as well). For people who are interested in culinary topics, there is a cheese factory to visit and Arosa has got a museum as well. In summer, you can either swim in the lake or use the pedalos. In winter, there’s ice skating as well as curling. There’s lots of concerts happening in winter plus the famous Arosa Humorfestival as well as the Arosa Gay Ski Week.

What kind of breakfast do you offer? We offer a buffet breakfast with a strong focus on regional produce. Hot dishes can be ordered as well and will be freshly prepared. At La Collina, we do offer breakfast until 1 PM, for those who prefer to sleep in.

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? Yes, we do have four restaurants in total: La Brezza, serving gourmet menus, The Basement, focusing on Fine Fast Food, La Collina for Mediterranean dishes and the Grand Restaurant for a rather traditional yet surprising cuisine. Together with Restaurant Twist at our sister property Valsana Hotel & Appartements and Restaurant Alpenblick, a traditional Swiss Alp Hut, this makes six great places to eat. And also the village of Arosa has great restaurants – ranging from traditional Swiss Chalets to Italian restaurants and more modern Alpine Tapas places.

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ? Yes, we can fix extra beds in the rooms. In addition to that, we have a kids’ swimming area as well as a kids’ club which is open every day until 9 PM. Upon request, there’s babysitters for children under 3.

What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? Tschuggen Grand Hotel makes the perfect winter getaway for singles, couples and families – with a private mountain railway, a luxurious spa area as well as four fabulous restaurants, everybody will be able to create their perfect holiday.
