This stunning beach hotel has long been a favourite among those in the know who want to be close enough to St Tropez but also far enough away from it (it's a 25-minute drive)! The unassuming entrance hides a charming Relais & Châteaux hotel with 32 rooms, a fantastic team of staff and a private beach.
Rooms are compact with a complimentary soft drink mini-bar, coffee machine, Clarins bath and body products and plenty of towels and flannels that are refreshed every day. Many of the rooms have their own balcony, and there are a range of family rooms and suites for those looking for more space. Unlike many French hotels, breakfast is included and is served on the terrace right by the sea. It's a buffet with pastries, hams, cheeses, plenty of bread choices, freshly baked cookies, fruits and granola. You can make your own boiled egg and choose between goat, sheep and cow yoghurts.
The plan was to head out and visit local villages, but the beach here is so blissful with excellent service from the beach boys; it's difficult to find a good enough reason to leave this perfect spot, especially as you can order a cold fruit platter and kombucha beachside. Families tend to gravitate towards the pool, which has a little more shade than the beach.
The lunch and dinner menus feature quite a few Italian dishes and some French classics too, including freshly caught fish of the day, ribeye steak, caprese, salad niçoise or casarecce with pesto and courgette. For something a little lighter, there's a bar menu available all day.
La Pinède is an easy hour and a half from Nice airport, and although it doesn't have a spa, there's a complimentary shuttle that takes you to sister hotel, Château de Valmer, just 400 metres away, which has a tennis court, gym and spa with indoor pool.

La Pinède Plage is a modern seaside hotel with a blank, unprepossessing exterior and front entrance that hides its chief glory: its balconied rear façade faces the Mediterranean and its own private beach. The hotel is sister to Le Château de Valmer, a 10-minute stroll away.
