“This contemporary, six-storey hotel is nestled on London's celebrated Southbank. Industrial-chic suites bring the city inside; think: exposed concrete ceilings juxtaposed with brass fittings and cosy throws. Hi-tech touches add an extra, luxury feel. Head to the art bar for cocktails; a smart hotel.”

Hotel review

Staff at Bankside are friendlier than most – perhaps something to do with working in such a fantastic location, steps from the South Bank's plethora of culture. The Globe and Tate Modern are moments away, while a gorgeous walk across the river to the West End reveals London at its finest – don't miss this on a sunny morning.

Check-in greets you upon entry - as does your welcome drink of choice - whisked to your room if preferred. Many rooms feature South Bank views, while some lucky guests share the roof terrace's unexpected vista of St Paul's Cathedral. Beds are fantastically soft, the rainfall shower impresses with its spaciousness, and electric blackout blinds prove a godsend for light sleepers. Thoughtful touches abound, from sweet treats and a daily happy hour to filtered water taps on each level - and even an unexpected art gallery on the hotel’s lowest floor.

A robust breakfast of juices, granola, fruit, fresh baked goods, and a full English spread is chosen buffet-style, supplemented with attentive yet unobtrusive service. The Informal Art Yard restaurant surpasses typical hotel dining standards.

Though compact, the gym offers immaculate equipment (with glossy fitness studio 1Rebel right next door for HIIT and Pilates diehards). The final jewel in this hotel’s crown has to be easy Heathrow access via the Elizabeth Line; Bankside delivers effortless London convenience with genuine warmth.

Bankside Hotel

This alluring addition to an increasingly chic part of London is almost as much gallery as hotel – with pieces of modern art on its walls, and even a studio where local painters and sculptors can be seen at work. But guests can also eat and sleep well in a hideaway that, for all its style, does not forget the basics.

Bankside Hotel First Reivew

The Bankside Hotel is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection but is independently owned, and sets out to be a hotel inspired by its terroir. And so there are Bermondsey ales and gins in the bar, and a lovely ceramic mural running along one wall of the restaurant with storybook scenes of riverside history – Viking boats, fishing and fire.
