Hotel Teatro, Porto

Porto’s first design hotel, the Teatro is fantastically located for those who want a real taste of the city, buried as it is amongst theatre and café land. A Brasiliera Café, just opposite the hotel is one of Porto’s oldest and most famous – well worth a visit to soak up the atmosphere. The hotel follows a theatrical and cinematic theme, complete with faces projected on to the walls as wallpaper and bell pulls covering the ceiling. Whereas downstairs is dark, the 72 bedrooms are lighter and decorated in stylish tones of bronze and gold – think gold glass basins and showers in glass boxes. The restaurant serves a small range of modern cuisine with a Portuguese accent.
