The Ocean Club, on the upscale Paradise Island, is a long-time favourite of many fortunate visitors – and it’s easy to see why. Tropical plants border the drive leading to a collection of low-rise, colonial-style buildings. Immaculate lawns – complete with comfy hammocks and shady palm trees – open onto glorious views of the rolling Atlantic waves. Glasses of champagne await arriving guests and glamour flows throughout. Behind louvered doors are bright, spacious rooms with stylish coastal-inspired décor and equally large bathrooms. Beachfront villas with private infinity pools appeal to groups. Extra in-room touches include designer beach bags, bottles of local rum and caps to keep the Caribbean sun at bay.
Staff are attentive and no request is too big. There are buzzers for beach service and iced water appears as if by magic. Sun cream and refreshing drinks are on tap at all three of the pools, including the adult-only Versailles pool, with its backdrop of tiered gardens, vibrant bougainvillea and statues. The spoiling spa offers treatments with a Caribbean twist. Sporty types will be drawn to the outdoor jungle gym, 18-hole golf course, pilates and yoga, not to mention paddle boarding, tennis and – new for summer 2026 – padel. Hop on a bike to explore the area or whizz down the road to Atlantis’ water-park.
Restaurants vary from a poolside trattoria and Caribbean beachfront restaurant to the smarter seafood restaurant Dune, where menus are inspired by its Michelin-starred chef’s travels. Start the morning with freshly-baked banana bread, exotic fruit salads, coconut chia bowls or frittatas. Later in the day, expect dishes like Bahamian conch salad, crispy salmon sushi and grilled fish, all while enjoying the sublime sea view. Finish the night in the elegant Martini bar, channelling your inner James Bond, sipping a cocktail, shaken not stirred.
