About Dahab

Dahab, previously a small sleepy fishing village, and then a hippy colony twenty years ago, is now a charming divers paradise with a few smart hotels popping up alongside some chic sea-side apartments. Diving, snorkelling, windsurfing, kitesurfing, sun bathing, and desert safaris/mountain climbing in neighbouring Sinai are amongst the main attractions. The best places to stay in Dahab are those chic low-key and low budget hotels and apartments that provide perfect bases for enjoying its various offerings.

World-class reefs in nearby Ras Mohammed National Park are but a short jeep ride away. Dahab sits at the south Sinai peninsula so the famous Mount Sinai and St. Catherine's monastery are not far away. You can organise a camel or jeep safari into the desert towards Sinai from the centre of Dahab.

There are many seafood restaurants on the shoreline, so candle lit dinners on the beach will be a main feature of the evening. Most of them are excellent value.

There are good bus transport links to Luxor, St.Catherine's Monastery, Sharm El Sheikh and Cairo.

Dahab is unique on this line of the Red Sea's coastline in that independent travellers are in the majority. Dahab is laid back, cool, and idyllic for its fabulous crystal shores, tropical fish, and coral reef. Three days would probably be sufficient but you might find you just cannot leave this relaxed paradise. It's is definitely recommendable if you're not after a high maintenance holiday which is why self-catering apartments and simple beach hotels are the best places to stay in Dahab.
