About Cuernavaca

Cuernavaca, called the City of Eternal Spring, has long been a popular, and glamourous, city to visit. As the moniker suggests the weather is extremely pleasant year round, but the weather also makes Cuernavaca an invitingly green city, with numerous beautiful parks and gardens surrounding impressive gated estates and elegant haciendas, where you'll find some of the best places to stay in Cuernavaca.

The city is also just 50 miles south of Mexico City, and lots of folk dash out here for the weekend, to enjoy the cleaner air and lively, holiday atmosphere which permeates Cuernavaca on the weekends. Even if you're not here on the weekend you're sure to find entertainment and life in the central plaza. As well as being lined with places to eat and drink, this is also a great spot to be entertained by local artists, dancers, musicians and street performers. There's also a fun street market just around the corner.

Cuernavaca is also conveniently located for the archaeological sights of Teopanzolco and Xochicalco. And it's got a wonderful palace, once the summer home of Herman Cortez, which is decorated with murals by Diego Rivera, thermal baths and a number of interesting museums.

Book our pick of the best places to stay in Cuernavaca and you'll have the perfect base from which to explore this lovely spot. But if you're planning to come at the weekend, just remember to plan well ahead otherwise the escapees from Mexico City will have bagged the best places to stay first!
