  • Schattenhofer Braugasthof is a charming former brewery with six minimalist guest rooms featuring pale wood and crisp white linens. Savour hearty regional cuisine in the rustic restaurant, or sip house beers in the courtyard garden. The sauna is a nice touch. 

For a luxury hotel

  • Fuchsbrau is a lovely, family-run hotel in another former brewery in the heart of town. The 75 inviting guest rooms have a fresh, airy feel; some with four-poster beds, modern furnishings and hardwood floors. Highlights include the indoor pool and rejuvenating massages, as well as the cosy Bavarian restaurant with crackling fireplace in the winter months, and sunlit terrace for summer dining. Wonderful. 
  • Hotel die Gams has 53 white and cream-clad bedrooms with monochrome prints and smart bathrooms. Travel information

  • Fly to Munich Airport or Nuremberg Airport, each an hour's drive from Beilngries. It’s relatively easy to explore the region on Germany’s rail network, and it’s possible to arrive by train from Austria, France, the Netherlands, Italy and the Czech Republic.
