BE41, a seven-bedroom B&B, also just metres from Vrijthof Square. Known for its hearty breakfasts, this spot promises the feel of a home-away-from-home, with original artwork, cosy throws and rustic furniture.

For boutique chic

FitzRoy Urban Hotel has 16 individually decorated guest rooms in bustling central Maastricht. Interiors have been carefully put together by a local interior designer, and the best of the suites feature indulgent roll-top baths. The buzzy bistro and bar are a highlight.
Les Charmes, another Maastricht favourite, has slick contemporary guest rooms with leather sofas, whitewashed walls and high ceilings. Château St Gerlach is a beautiful rural escape near Valkenburg. Formerly a monastery, this imposing heritage landmark combines chic, country-style interiors with a sense of imposing Baroque elegance. Chateau Neercanne promises sweeping views of the Jeker Valley from its elegant guest rooms and terraced gardens. Think herringbone floors, glittering chandeliers, exposed beams and free-standing tubs in indulgent bedrooms. A romantic fairytale castle with two chic French-inspired restaurants.

Travel information

Fly to Maastricht Aachen Airport, and hop aboard the regular shuttle which connects the airport to the city and railway stations, or arrange an airport pick up through your hotel in advance.
Alternatively, catch a train from major hubs including Amsterdam, or neighbouring Germany and Belgium.
