Hotel Review

Nestled amidst the picturesque Surrey Hills, Beaverbrook, once owned by the esteemed newspaper magnate, Lord Beaverbrook epitomises refined luxury. Stepping onto its grounds, you're enveloped in a seamless fusion of timeless opulence and contemporary flair, courtesy of Susie Atkinson's visionary designs from Soho House.

This exclusive country house hotel beckons couples, friends, and families alike with its stunning spa, choice of restaurants and magnificent grounds. A standout feature is the Coach House Spa, a masterpiece conceived by the renowned glass artist Brian Clarke. Vibrant stained-glass windows and intricate tilework create a haven of colourful tranquility, offering a sanctuary for rejuvenating treatments. Meanwhile, the Health Club boasts two resplendent swimming pools—one indoor, one outdoor—alongside a Deli serving nourishing super-food salads and invigorating juices, and a spacious cutting-edge gym for those seeking a revitalising workout. A unique spa experience at The Coach House Spa, is the Vibrational Sound Bodywork Treatment in The Meadow Hut with Peter which incorporates energy cleansing with a sound bathing ritual and a full biodynamic massage, which leaves you relaxed and recharged for days to follow.

For foodies, the Japanese Grill, affectionately known as the ‘Nobu of Surrey,’ promises an exquisite dining experience; you are treated to a delectable array of sushi, sashimi, and nigiri, complemented by the finest cuts of meat and fish. Post-dinner, retreat to the Gatsby-esque Sir Frank’s Bar for a bespoke cocktail or enjoy a private screening at the hotel’s esteemed cinema (there are three showings a day)—a historic venue steeped in anecdotes shared by Lord Beaverbrook and Winston Churchill. For lunch take a stroll to The Garden Restaurant which is tucked away behind Beaverbrook's traditional walled kitchen garden, here you can enjoy comforting, home-cooked dishes and pretty interiors inspired by the surrounding gardens.

Rooms and suites are charming and luxurious and are spread across the main house, coach house and The Village (home to 21 rooms). Expect indulgent roll-top baths, Bamford products, crisp linens and thoughtful attention to detail including complimentary minibars, sloe gin, Frette bathrobes and turn-down service, every detail ensures an unforgettable stay. If it's a view you're after opt for a Turret room in the main house, boasting a private terrace perfect for soaking in the breathtaking sunset. For privacy the coach house cottages are ideal and some of them are dog-friendly and sleep a family of four.

While adults revel in the lavish offerings, children are equally enchanted with the Sharky & George children's club, extensive woodlands to explore, a whimsical treehouse, and a playground. Service at Beaverbrook is impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring a seamless experience from check-in to room service, where requests are met with warmth and efficiency. At Beaverbrook, every moment is imbued with an air of sophistication and grace, promising an unforgettable retreat amidst the idyllic Surrey countryside.

Beaverbrook

Step into a bygone era of English high society, original artworks and antiques at this luxurious country house hotel, where press baron Lord Beaverbrook entertained world leaders and literary greats. Every room has been elegantly styled, service is impeccable and the bottle of Sipsmith sloe gin is a welcome touch.

Beaverbrook

More than 400 acres of Surrey, on the edge of the Surrey Hills near the pretty village of Mickleham, are quietly being turned into a high-class design hotel with a spa. It’s a £90 million work-in-progress, but the first 11 rooms have just opened in Beaverbrook’s flint-stone Garden House. This is next to a kitchen garden and a lane leading to a neo-classical Victorian mansion that was once the home of the 20th-century press baron/politician Lord Beaverbrook.
