Grand Moorish style is found at this historical medina palace, formerly one of the residences of Thami El Glaoui, the Pasha of Marrakech. Situated within a magical garden with cypress trees, bougainvillea-clad wooden pergolas, white Carrara marble fountains and mosaic tiled Andalusian basin swimming pool, many flock here to enjoy the speciality Italian gastronomy at PepeNero in the marble checkered courtyard restaurant without knowing there are five lavish and exquisitely renovated rooms. Suites are opulent with cedarwood ceilings and fine examples of intricate craftsmanship in the ornate paintwork, woodwork, panelling and tiling. The emphasis on natural materials and comfort are found in the bespoke pure wool mattresses, goose-down pillows and Egyptian mercerised cotton sheets. Organic soaps, oils, shampoos etc are produced at the Jardin Bio-Armomatique Nectarome in Ourika Valley from where fruits, herbs and vegetables also hail enhancing the delightfully fresh food including homemade jams and sauces.
