“Once known as “Hollywood on the Rocks” the Chesa Grishuna has, over the decades, entertained a star studded list of movie legends from Greta Garbo, Gene Kelly to Rex Harrison and Anthony Perkins. Alpine chic rooms and inventive cuisine in the highly regarded restaurant.”

Hotel Review

Opened in 1938 The Chesa Grischuna remains timeless and one of Klosters' most popular hotels. Part of Swiss Historic Hotels and Historic Hotels of Europe, the superlatives run away with the tongue: ‘Welcoming, warm, cosseting, charming, wonderful service...”. Originally built in 1938, it rapidly became the most popular hotel for American GIs during the war and then the haunt of celebrities and movie stars. The hotel has been lovingly cared for and modernised over the decades, whilst retaining its original quirkiness; furnished with local furniture, wood carvings, pretty fabrics, using local artisans and handicrafts, combined with contemporary art and murals. Chef Ronald Fressner has been awarded 15 points by Gault Millau for his cuisine, offering a set menu and a creative a la carte menu. The dining room has great charm: old floors, dark beams, carved painted wood and it's usually packed — you need to book. Expect local produce and regional specialities served with typical Swiss efficiency. The cellar offers over 150 wines. For resident guests there is a cosy Säli on the first floor with comfy sofas and a crackling log fire. The Chesa piano bar, where the walls are painted with murals of winter scenes, has always been the place to be après ski. The Chalet Grishuna guesthouse, two minutes walk away offers less expensive rooms, some with shared bathrooms but breakfast is taken at the Chesa Grischuna and half board is also offered. Bedrooms are well appointed and furnished in a typical Grison Alpine style plenty of carved wood panelling, crisp white linen and puffy duvets. Loyal guests return year after year.
