“One of the most Instagram-able hotels in the city, a no-holds-barred inspirational ‘lifestyle’ hotel in east London. Rooms are funky and colourful, each individually designed with graffiti-style art. An ‘open-house’ hotel with co-working and events spaces, and a buzzing bar and restaurant.”

Hotel review

The phrase ‘riot of colour’ is often overused, yet entirely appropriate for nhow London’s aesthetic: chairs are adorned with distressed Union Jack flags, and neon signage hangs from the ceiling. It’s gleefully garish and will divide opinion, but teenagers are sure to be thrilled (if not with the decor and speedy tech, then the free sweets and biscuits at reception). It’s certainly a lot to deal with whilst nursing a sore head after exploring the area’s night scene, but you can’t accuse the designers of being boring.

Almost 200 rooms hide behind lifesize, brightly painted front doors complete with knockers. Inside, the topsy turvy cool Britannia theme continues gallantly, British icons referenced via huge murals and graffiti. Thoughtful touches are more soothing - flip flops, robes, eye masks, ear plugs and even lip balm are provided. Most rooms overlook either the street or hotel courtyard, all with brilliantly soft beds, modern lighting, tea and coffee-making facilities, flat screens, and complimentary Wi-Fi.

A QR code for 24/7 room service allows orders for breakfast in bed before 2am, though the plentiful buffet offers too many juices to count, and a sweet section that will further delight young guests. Boost your morning in the large and well-equipped underground gym, or borrow a Brompton bike to explore artsy neighbourhoods nearby. Come evening, the Guilty London restaurant is filled with the sound of cocktail shaking as well-cooked steaks and pasta dishes land on tables.

Wedged between the nightclubs and cafés of Hoxton, Islington, and Shoreditch, yet minutes from tech hub Old Street, nhow suits maximalists who want to do everything, all at once.
