Photo of Hotel Orfila

“A small, but opulent palace with artworks, antiques, and traditional architecture. Sumptuous rooms and suites with lots of open space, creamy furnishings and attractive period decoration. Excellent restaurant, terrace and garden. Grand, but not pretentious.”

Hotel Review

Hotel Orfila feels very much like a private home but with a discrete team ready to tend to your every need, from the doorman to the reception and staff in the restaurant, nothing is too much trouble. A member of the popular Relais & Chateaux group, Orfila has been owned by the same Spanish family for the last 20 years and is popular with local celebrities and even royal families who want to hide-away in a charming luxury hotel. Walk in the front door and you would be forgiven for thinking you were entering one of Madrid's famous museums with antiques, paintings and artwork around both the public areas and private rooms. The location is great too – just a 10-minute walk to exclusive boutiques and the best shopping district of Madrid and all the cool neighbourhoods, museums are within walking distance in all directions. Rooms are large, spacious and charming although the bathrooms are beginning to show their age. Despite being on a side-street in a residential neighbourhood rooms can be noisy at night. The Jardin de Orfila, is led by Executive Chef Mario Sandoval of 2-Michelin star Restaurant Coque. The menu is a simplified version of his award-winning restaurant but perhaps more traditional with strong flavours and rich sauces. The restaurant and menu match the design and old-school charm of the hotel with an aristocratic feel to the whole place.
