• Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport is 8km from the heart of Anchorage and offers non-stop flights to more than 30 cities, mostly in the U.S. and Canada. Popular year-round routes include Seattle, Portland, Denver, Phoenix, Minneapolis and Chicago. (Summer brings even more connections.) It is served by taxis, shuttles and limousine services, plus the public bus service (Route 40) is also available to transport passengers to downtown.

• From snowy winters and dazzling Northern Lights to mild summers with endless daylight, Anchorage offers dramatic seasonal changes. For pleasant temperatures and clear skies, early July through early August is the best time to visit — July is the warmest month, with average highs near 20°C. Winters can be lengthy, bitterly cold, snowy and cloudy. January is Anchorage’s coldest month with average lows around -12°C when snow blankets the city, creating ideal conditions for winter sports like skiing, snowmobiling and dog sledding. Daylight is limited, but the chances of seeing the Northern Lights are excellent.
