Hotel Review
The Bodmin Jail Hotel is one of the newest additions of Cornwall's boutique hotel scene and it doesn't disappoint. Not only is its location (built into the walls of the original jail) out of the ordinary, but the interiors have been put together with great care and attention. There is a good range of 70 rooms (some family friendly and some for doggies too), but what all share is sleek modern style complemented by original stone walls and some vaulted ceilings. You can expect super comfy beds, top-notch Egyptian linens and indulgent bathrooms with freestanding baths and tropical rain showers. For sustenance you can choose between the super smart Champagne bar and Chapel Restaurant where menus are inspired by local ingredients, or head to the Jolly Hangman Tavern for something altogether more relaxed and low-key (ideal if you've got little ones in tow). Bodmin is a great base for anyone wanting to explore all over Cornwall — you've got beaches in all directions, great walking and cycling and sights aplenty all within half an hour's drive. For families looking for a boutique stay in Cornwall, somewhere that's just a little bit different, Bodmin Jail Hotel is a no-brainer!
