Hotel Review

Follonico is a small boutique hotel with just two rooms and four spacious suites, only 10 minutes from Montepulciano. This ancient Tuscan farmhouse has been meticulously restored by its passionate owners who have created an authentic experience. Once you've arrived, you'll hate to leave, such is the magic of this country hideaway. The rooms and suites are large and rustic with stone floors, wooden doors and vaulted, beamed ceilings. Rosso Tramonto boasts three windows from which to admire the Tuscan hills and Verde Intenso is really spacious with three rooms (bedroom, sitting room and bathroom), spread across three levels connected by a stone staircase. All of the accommodation comes with complimentary organic Biofficina Toscana bath products in the en-suite bathrooms. Take in the views of the Tuscan countryside from the infinity edge saltwater pool or soak up the sun on the terrace. Montepulciano is just 5 minutes away by car and has some delicious wines to discover. Closer to home is Montefollonico, a charming small, medieval village that is definitely worth a visit, and offers some tempting dining options. Owners Fabio and Suzanne are on hand for recommendations and if you feel like cooking up a storm they can organise a class for you during your stay. There's no restaurant at Follonico but breakfast is an organic feast with most ingredients coming straight from the garden, and the dishes changing on a daily basis. Enjoy breakfast outside in summer and in the breakfast room, during the cooler months. There's an honesty bar in the hall; take your pick from the delicious local wines. Follonico is a working farm and vineyard with all sorts of animals; dogs, horses, cats, chickens and geese. It's isolated, still and quiet, a place where you can simply be and live like a local.

Map & Location

What's Nearby

See What They Say

Why do people love staying in your hotel? Mostly because the place is real. The guests share Tuscan life for few days. Follonico hasn’t been developed with focus on business choices, but all the things present at Follonico are made to please and sustain the family daily life. Without compromises.

What is there to do in the area or on site? Hilltop villages, winery, enogastronomic itineraries, biking and hiking, slow living experience, amazing sceneries

What kind of breakfast do you offer? Every day we serve a three courses breakfast (no buffet): 1 sweet part, 1 dressed part (either cold or warm), 1 sliced part (usually pecorino cheese, sometimes cured meat). Most of the ingredients are produced by us (veggies, olive oil, honey, jams) some are locally sourced (cheese and meat, fruit). We bake sourdough bread daily and we produce all the pastry/cakes. Most important, the breakfast is never the same. So if a guest stays 7 nights will receive 7 different breakfasts.

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? A selection of cheese and cured meat is always available. In Montefollonico we recommend: 13 Gobbi and La Botte Piena

Which is your most popular room, and why? Blu Notte suite is our guests' favourite.

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms? We can welcome cribs in the 4 suites and 1 suite has the possibility to add a proper bed. PLEASE NOTE that kids below 12 are not allowed in the pool area.
