“A French-owned 7-room boutique hotel (opened 2024) in a convenient location, offering a quiet escape from the mayhem of the medina. With an expansive roof terrace, indoor pool and plenty of space to spread out, it’s a great option for groups, families and couples.”

Hotel review

Acquired as a ruin in 2003 by the parents of current owner Colline, the riad was untouched for 20 years until Colline decided to take on the project to convert it into a chic contemporary hotel. The building finally came to fruition, opening its doors in 2024. The name Nalos is an acronym of Colline’s son Solan.

A soothing Seventies-esque palette of dusty peach, desert brown and terracotta, gives an inviting, glowing warmth to the interior. The spacious courtyard offers plenty of seating in nooks and on biomorphic sofas with curvy tables echoing the orbicular shapes. Rooms are equally soft and comforting, each different, while sharing a simple yet spacious layout and ensuite tadelakt bathrooms.

Once inside, guests are completely cocooned from outside sounds, but for the occasional muffled adhan or call to prayer. Staff are friendly and attentive, serving breakfast in the ground floor dining room while lunch and dinner can be arranged on the roof terrace. This makes for a great spot for a group or family and for couples wanting a tranquil atmosphere while being only a few paces from the souks.

Why do people love staying in your hotel?
Guests love Maison Nalos for its peaceful atmosphere, intimate setting, personalised hospitality, and authentic Moroccan charm. It is a place where they can truly disconnect and relax while remaining just a few minutes from the vibrant Medina of Marrakech.

What is there to do in the area?
Guests can wander through the Medina and its colourful souks, visit historical palaces and gardens, enjoy rooftop restaurants, experience traditional hammams and spas, play golf, or take unforgettable day trips to the Agafay Desert and the Atlas Mountains.

What kind of breakfast do you offer?
We serve a traditional Moroccan breakfast that is entirely homemade and freshly prepared every morning. We use fresh, seasonal ingredients and make a point of varying the breakfast each day, especially for guests staying several nights, so they can discover different Moroccan specialties throughout their stay. Everything is made from scratch on the day to ensure freshness and quality.

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally?
Maison Nalos is not a restaurant, and meals are exclusively available for our resident guests. We offer a traditional Moroccan menu, with every dish homemade and freshly prepared on the day using carefully selected ingredients. To allow us to source the freshest produce and prepare everything from scratch, we kindly ask guests to place their order at least 24 hours in advance. The menu is priced at 400 MAD per person and includes a starter, main course, and dessert (drinks not included).

We are also delighted to recommend some of our favourite restaurants in Marrakech, whether guests are looking for authentic Moroccan cuisine or more contemporary dining experiences.

Which are your most popular room types, and why?
Our Deluxe Rooms are among our most popular as they combine generous space, refined Moroccan décor, and a warm, comfortable atmosphere. They are perfect for couples seeking a peaceful and elegant stay.

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms?
Children are welcome at Maison Nalos. Baby cots and extra beds can be arranged in selected rooms upon request, making the riad suitable for families.

What message would you like to give The Hotel Guru readers?
Our philosophy at Maison Nalos is simple: "Home Away From Home." We want every guest to feel welcomed as if they were staying with friends, enjoying genuine Moroccan hospitality in a peaceful and intimate setting. We look forward to welcoming you and making your stay in Marrakech truly unforgettable.
