Riad Enija

Once the 18th century residence of King Kaid, this vast grand old palace has 15 opulent rooms and the highest rooftop in Marrakech. Owned by a Swedish architect and his Swiss wife, the couple bought the property 20 years ago and painstakingly renovated it, using donkeys to deliver the furniture as the building is only accessible via narrow alleyways. In this medina haven, you will find fine examples of exquisite intricate zellij tiling, colonnaded walkways, wood panelling, sculpted plasterwork, antique hand painted wooden zouaki ceilings and carved doorways. Some suites have private entrances and terraces, all have sumptuous textiles, elaborate lighting, decadent iron or four-poster beds and roll top tubs. Delicious dinners and extensive breakfasts are served in one of the jungle-like courtyard gardens by Aziz, the excellent in-house chef. Here there’s space for everyone - guests can always find a quiet spot to themselves.
