Why do people love staying in your hotel? Guests love Sakkan for its sense of calm and authenticity. It is a discreet retreat in the heart of the medina, where contemporary comfort meets the soul of a traditional Moroccan riad. Many describe Sakkan as a place where time slows down: generous spaces, warm materials, curated music, and a highly personal approach to hospitality. It feels lived-in rather than staged — elegant, but never formal.
What is there to do in the area? Sakkan is located in the historic Mouassine / Dar El Bacha district, one of the most atmospheric parts of Marrakech. From the riad, guests can walk to souks, museums, artisan workshops, and some of the city’s most refined cafés and concept stores. We also organise private guides, Atlas mountain excursions, desert day trips, hammam rituals, and curated cultural experiences for guests who want to go deeper than the usual highlights.
What kind of breakfast do you offer? Breakfast at Sakkan is relaxed, generous, and served à la carte. Guests can expect freshly baked Moroccan breads, homemade pastries, seasonal fruit, fresh juices, yoghurt, eggs prepared to order, and a selection of local specialities. Everything is prepared in-house, using quality ingredients, and served at a pace that suits the morning mood — never rushed.
Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? We offer a refined dinner menu combining Moroccan specialities with European bistro cuisine, focused on balance, freshness, and comfort rather than formality. Our chefs are trained in both traditions, and the restaurant is intimate, open to external guests while giving priority to hotel residents. We are also happy to recommend and reserve carefully selected local restaurants that we genuinely enjoy ourselves.
Which are your most popular room types, and why? It is hard to single out one category, as all of our rooms are appreciated for different reasons. From more intimate rooms starting around €185 to our most spacious rooms from around €350, each is designed as an individual space with its own character. Guests choose according to personal preference — size, light, layout, or mood — but all rooms share the same calm palette, sense of privacy, and styling that reflects the historic character of the building.
What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms? Sakkan is designed as a calm and refined retreat, but we do welcome families with children who are comfortable in a quieter setting. Some rooms can accommodate an extra bed on request, subject to availability. In addition, two of our rooms feature a mezzanine level, offering children up to 14 years old their own small space while remaining close to their parents. We do not offer dedicated children’s facilities, allowing the overall atmosphere of the house to remain relaxed and harmonious.
What message would you like to give The Hotel Guru readers? Sakkan is a house with its own rhythm. Days unfold between calm rooms, the pool, sun deck, and spa; evenings drift naturally towards the rooftop, bar, and restaurant — a social centre shaped by music, light, and understated gastronomy. It is a place to feel the city rather than observe it, relaxed yet alive, and quietly rooted in Marrakech — a sensibility that has not gone unnoticed by Michelin…
