Stay here for spectacular views you’ll remember forever. Jet-lagged Brits get a head start on the day - book an East River–facing room to drink in sunrise views of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline (even hardened New Yorkers’ jaws would drop). Floor-to-ceiling windows, filtered in-room water taps, sustainably sourced reclaimed flooring, and lovely greenery throughout. Rooms are tight by non-NYC standards, but smart storage and the views compensate.

The rooftop pool (three feet deep, more for lounging than swimming) lets you wave at Lady Liberty, as does restaurant Harriet’s (book a sunset table). Fair warning: it gets loud after dark, so light sleepers should request a lower-floor room (email ahead if you’re worried). Downstairs, famed Chef Jonathan Waxman’s serves his signature JW Chicken with salsa verde at slick eatery Barbuto. Cowshed Spa massages are exquisite, with heated, super-soft beds and spoiling Bamford organic products. At the edge of Brooklyn Bridge Park, you’ll find yourself a scenic 12-minute walk to the subway and steps from the Dumbo ferry.
